NCS4 Launches TOPVenue, a Software System for Venues and Events

The National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4) announced the release of TOPVenue, a software system designed to address the needs of training, operations and planning during the 2015 National Sports Safety and Security Conference and Exhibition on July 6-9 in Orlando, Fla.

Founded upon NSC4’s training, best practices and academic research coupled with the latest of INCONTROL’s crowd simulation software, Pedestrian Dynamics 2.0, TOPVenue is the next evolutionary step in sport and special events crowd simulation software - adaptable to any venue or event.

TOPVenue provides a 2D/3D system in which users can prepare, analyze and improve their venue or event plans, policies, and procedures.

“This tool is easy to use, and empowers the manger to be able to completely customize and develop their own models to run the ‘What-IF’ scenarios,” said Dan DeMott, associate director of training at NCS4. “It has flexibility in that it is designed for managers who oversee an event, venue or facility, as well as emergency response agencies.”

TOPVenue users may include, but are not limited to those from professional sports, colleges/universities, marathons, K-12 and after-school activities, urban environments, commercial venues, and architecture/engineering/construction.

The software is intended to serve as a road map for organizations to use to continually make improvements. From a security perspective, users will be able to mitigate, respond and recover from emergency incidents, and from a non-security perspective understand, test and evaluate crowd flow within a designated area.

Chase Kasper, director of the Southern Miss Office of Technology Development (OTD), which oversees the intellectual property and licensing portfolio for the university, stated that the launch is a direct result of the on-going relationship between Southern Miss and INCONTROL.

“NCS4 and INCONTROL have worked very closely to better identify, understand and address industry end-user needs. This launch is yet another example of developing multi-faceted relationship between our university and INCONTROL,” Kasper said.

“We’re continuously working to enhance and add dimension to our relationships, and our relationship with INCONTROL is a very good example of how Southern Miss continually engages and interacts with its corporate partners.”

In July 2013, INCONTROL opened a new office in Hattiesburg, Miss., and currently operates out of the Trent Lott National Center for Economic Development and Entrepreneurship at The University of Southern Mississippi campus.
