Aquatic Safety Research Group Launches 'Drowning Files' Podcast

After nearly 50 years of investigating drowning deaths, including serving as experts in lawsuits resulting from these tragedies, Tom Griffiths and Rachel Griffiths of Aquatic Safety Research Group LLC are teaming up to discuss the behind-the-scenes case facts often not available to the public.

In a new podcast called “Drowning Files,” the well-known and popular father-daughter safety team will first reveal the details of each case, then have an in-depth discussion regarding why these tragedies occurred, and how they could have been prevented. Water safety suggestions for the future will also be provided.

“These real-life case studies will have a significant impact on listeners,” Tom Griffiths, founder of Aquatic Safety Research Group and the former longtime director of aquatics at Penn State University, says. “The discussions have great value to parents, caregivers, lifeguards, aquatic staff, supervisors and administrators, and should ultimately save lives.”

Rachel, Aquatic Safety Research Group’s communications director and West Coast representative, and Tom, both Ph.D. holders, have many publications and presentations to their credit based on unique research conducted in service to the aquatics profession. They appear frequently at AB Show, and their expertise has been featured often in Athletic Business magazine.

A new “Drowning Files” episode will be introduced every week on Spotify and other social media platforms, with each discussion lasting about 10 minutes.
