Woodway Wins Appeal on Key Treadmill Patent Claims

WAUKESHA, WI, November 20, 2024 – WOODWAY USA, Inc., a leading designer and manufacturer of treadmills and other health, fitness, and rehabilitation equipment, announced today that the United States Patent Trial and Appeal Board has upheld the validity of key claims in U.S. Patent Nos. 9,039,580, 10,561,884, and 10,799,745, which protect Woodway’s revolutionary line of non-motorized CURVE® treadmills.

Eric Weber, Director of Sales and Marketing, states, “Woodway takes tremendous pride in the innovations we have developed and integrated into our products. The Patent Office’s recent decisions confirming patentability of key claims in each of the three challenged patents fuel Woodway’s continued commitment to vigorously protect its valuable intellectual property and innovations.”

Woodway has successfully enforced its family of patents protecting its line of CURVE® treadmills, which were the first of their kind when introduced in 2009. Woodway and its current infringement target – Assault Fitness – are scheduled for trial beginning April 1, 2025.  In the litigation pending in the United States District Court for the Southern District of California, Case No. 3:22-cv-00492-JO-BLM, Woodway is seeking monetary damages and an order from the court enjoining Assault Fitness from importing and selling its line of AssaultRunner Pro and Elite treadmills in the United States, among other relief, for Assault Fitness’ infringement of Woodway’s U.S. Patent Nos. 9,039,580, 10,561,884, and 10,799,745.
