2play Launches Self-Serve Sports Gear Kiosks to Activate Parks and Public Spaces Nationwide

2 Play Kiosk Action Shot
Communities across the country are facing a crisis of inactivity and disconnection. 2play, a public health startup based in Austin, TX, is offering a solution: automated kiosks that make it easy—and free—for anyone to access high-quality sports equipment in shared outdoor spaces.

2play’s patent-pending kiosks are solar-powered, app-free, and built for durability. Each unit holds 8–12 lockers stocked with items like basketballs, soccer balls, frisbees, and more. Users simply scan a QR code, unlock a locker, and start playing. Rentals are free to the public thanks to 2play’s sponsorship model and optional license tiers for private communities.
2 Play Kiosk Only

The system has seen early success in Austin’s Pease Park, where over 1,000 rentals and 450 hours of spontaneous play were recorded in under a year. “We love having a 2play Kiosk at Pease Park, and so do our visitors,” says Jordan Fuhrer, Chief Revenue Officer for Pease Park Conservancy. “It solves real problems for families and brings new energy to the park.”

Each kiosk includes an admin dashboard for partners to track usage, upload sponsor logos, and receive restocking reminders. Cities, HOAs, campus rec programs, and youth nonprofits are all ideal candidates. Partners can either manage upkeep themselves or opt for a 2play-managed program.

“Play shouldn’t require planning or permission,” says 2play founder Drew Beathard. “Our mission is to make every court and field usable—even if someone forgot their gear.”
