After a year of growth and increased visibility for women’s sports across the board, RH7 Sports, an all-women’s sports agency, seeks to keep up the momentum and celebrate female athletes.
According to Forbes, RH7 Sports was founded by Roderick Hawthorne and falls under the RH7 Management umbrella as the organization’s first sports-focused branch of the agency. RH7 Sports will develop female athletes through unique brand partnerships and brand building, and the team has already hit the ground running.
“There was a lack of representation for women [including black and brown women] in sports,” said Hawthorne. “That was my fuel on top of [the fact that] women’s sports is on this trajectory… and continues to grow.”
The women-led team at RH7 is focused on securing female athletes’ brand deals with specifically women’s products as well.
Chase Jackson, the American record holder in the shot put, said, “Having women represent women is important because they just understand.”
The dedication to women’s sports goes beyond the athletes as well. RH7 Sports also represents female media voices who commentate or report on women’s sports, including Serenity Douglas and Demitra Carter. These two media personalities have commentated for worldwide track and field meets and worked with major brands, such as Nike. By uplifting these storytellers as well as the athletes, RH7 has shown a “commitment to elevating all of women’s sports and fitness, not just the competitive side.”
RH7 Sports sees women’s access to sport expanding every day. From the all-female track meet, ATHLOS, to the WNBA expansion and even League One Volleyball, the rising tide of women’s sports stands to lift everyone.
Said Hawthorne, “It’s going to come down to brands understanding the story that’s trying to be told.”
