This week, hundreds of teams and organizations will gather to celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day. In New York City, Beat the Streets NYC is no exception. The organization is hosting everyBODY wrestles, a girls’ wrestling clinic and film screening in celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day.

Beat the Streets is also joined by the documentary film crew behind "All American," Columbia University women’s wrestling team, and local middle and high school girls wrestling teams.

Attendees will participate in a girls’ wrestling clinic, led by members of Columbia’s wrestling team and the wrestlers featured in ‘All American.’ The introduction to the sport, along with more advanced technique sessions, will include the opportunity for athletes to speak with coaches and competitive wrestlers to encourage mentorship and build community.

Following the wrestling clinic, a screening of ‘All American,’ a 2024 documentary that highlights female wrestlers who overcome “economic divides, gender roles, and family dynamics while competing in the fastest growing high school sport in the country: women's wrestling.”

“I was blown away by these young women when I saw women’s wrestling for the first time,” film director Mark Altschul said. “I’ve never seen women wrestling like that and these women were incredible. This was a passion project. I think I had a responsibility to the women I started filming. I think I had a responsibility to everybody. I really wanted to do this. I couldn’t let it go. It was just in me. It was driving me. I wanted to finish this and I wasn’t going to stop until I did.”

Beat the Streets and the documentary film crew have also made the documentary available for streaming, so female wrestlers not based in New York City may enjoy the film. It will be available online through Feb. 8, 2026.
