Alabama Approves Massive Salaries for Football Staff

The University of Alabama Wednesday ensured that head football coach Nick Saban’s assistant coaches are well compensated.

According to ESPN, UA’s board of trustees approved $7.541 million in basic annual compensation for Saban’s 10 assistant coaches. The number is a $1.4 million increase over what the school paid its assistant football coaches last year. It’s also expected to be the most among all FBS programs this coming season.

Offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian will be the highest paid assistant on staff at $1.55 million for the season. Defensive coordinator Pete Golding will make $1.1 million.

ESPN reports that coaching staffs at Ohio State ($7.38 million), Clemson ($6.82 million), Texas A&M ($6.79 million), Auburn ($6.55 million), LSU ($6.47 million) and Georgia ($6.42 million) were paid more than Alabama's staff last season, according to the database.

Clemson’s staff will receive $7.195 next year.
