Welcome to Fundraising Friday: AB Today's digest of recent developments in development.

South Arkansas College, a junior college in El Dorado, has received a $10 million charitable gift from Houston-based Murphy Oil Corporation. Announced Tuesday on heels of the second consecutive season in which SouthArk advanced to the NJCAA Division II World Series, the gift will help fund a new baseball stadium at the school, as well as a new residence hall.

Central Michigan University announced Tuesday the gifts that made the naming of CMU's football field in honor of legendary coaches Roy Kramer and Herb Deromedi possible. The naming of Kramer/Deromedi Field at Kyle/Shorts Stadium in time for the fall 2022 season was made possible through a $1 million fundraising effort supported by numerous football alumni and friends of the two coaches. Bob Stebbins, a CMU football standout from 1984 to 1987 who led the fundraising committee, and his wife Ann Beth, were among the leading supporters of the project with their $350,000 donation.

Dan and Jolene Mikkelson of Grand Forks, N.D., have made a $5 million gift to fund scholarships at their alma mater, the University of North Dakota, as reported by local news radio station KNOX. Of the total gift amount, $4 million will fund scholarships in athletics: $2 million to UND hockey, $1 million to UND football and $1 million to UND women’s athletics. The remaining $1 million will be split evenly to fund scholarships in the Nistler College of Business & Public Administration and the occupational therapy program within the School of Medicine & Health Sciences.

Eastern Carolina University director of athletics Jon Gilbert announced last month a transformative $1 million investment in the Pirates Unite Campaign for Comprehensive Excellence from the Curtis Struyk family. Curtis Struyk and his son C.J. both played football for ECU. The generous contribution will be directed toward the Isley Indoor Performance Center, a cornerstone project within the campaign that will benefit all student-athletes.

Total amount of these gifts:

$16,000,000
