Welcome to Fundraising Friday, AB Today's weekly digest of recent developments in development.

Former Vanderbilt University cornerback Casey Hayward has pledged $1 million to the Commodores' football program, the athletic department announced Nov. 1. The gift from Hayward, who played 11 seasons in the NFL, represents one of the largest gifts of its kind from a former student-athlete who played professionally and the largest ever from a football alum. It will help fuel Vanderbilt’s Dare to Grow campaign, which has revolutionized Vanderbilt Athletics with transformational support for major facilities and operational enhancements, as well as scholarships and programs for student-athletes.

East Carolina University Athletics and the Pirate Club announced Nov. 1 that the $1 million matching gift challenge initiated by Bill Clark Homes has reached its completion. The dollar-for-dollar matching challenge inspired 440 members of Pirate Nation exceed the $1 million goal for new gifts in just over two weeks, with funds directed toward the new Dick and Sarah Bennett Baseball Building. The Pirate Club continues to accept donations toward this project, and donors who contributed $100 or more will receive a commemorative gift. As part of the Pirates Unite Campaign, participants will also receive double priority points.

The Dalles (Ore.) High School Booster Club and Riverhawk Athletics announced last week that Les Schwab Tires has donated $100,000 to support the replacement of the athletics press box at Wahtonka Football Field. As reported by Columbia Community Connection News, this contribution propels the project past the halfway mark toward its $200,000 goal, addressing a long-standing need for a safe and modern media space for events, at the field.

Hannah Bazemore, director of athletics at Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C., announced a $100,000 gift to the Fighting Camels wrestling program Thursday. The anonymous donation marks the largest single gift in the history of Campbell wrestling.

Total amount of these gifts:

$2,200,000
