Phil Esten, director of athletics at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn., announced Thursday a $10 million gift from Al and Debbie Iversen, and family, toward the construction of the Lee & Penny Anderson Arena. In recognition of this commitment, the Iversen Family Atrium will welcome University of St. Thomas students, alumni and fans as they make their way into the arena, which will serve as home to Tommies basketball and hockey.

The Boston-based New Balance Foundation has donated $5 million to support the construction of a new indoor track and gymnasium at a recreational facility planned for Dorchester, Mass., by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dorchester and the Martin Richard Foundation. The foundation was created by the Richard family to honor 8-year-old Martin after he was killed in the Boston Marathon bombing. As reported Wednesday by Boston ABC affiliate WCVB, plans for the $70 million, 70,000-square-foot project in the Harbor Point neighborhood feature indoor athletic fields, a walking track, fitness and training rooms, classroom space, a theater and a teaching kitchen.

Marquette University announced Thursday that alumnus Ross Sprovieri and wife Susan have committed $3 million to grow additional endowed tennis scholarships and help fund the renovation and expansion of the state-of-the-art Wellness + Helfaer Recreation facility, home of Golden Eagles tennis. Moncus Family Foundation that will provide support for the continued renovation of Our Lady of Lourdes Stadium and the baseball clubhouse project at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.
