Mere days since announcing a naming rights availability for its athletic director position, North Carolina State has renamed the title after securing a $5 million gift from former Wolfpack Club board president and longtime member Brian McMurray and his wife Konni. As reported Feb. 13 by NBC affiliate WRAL in Raleigh, the position will be named the McMurray Family Director of Athletics. The endowment is the fourth of its kind in the Atlantic Coast Conference and comes at a time when NC State and other college athletic departments are seeking additional revenue to keep up with rising costs, particularly the advent of direct revenue sharing with athletes. Schools are expected to be able to share $20.5 million with athletes beginning this fall.
