The Steve Golding family of Vicksburg, Miss., has contributed $2.5 million to strengthen Mississippi State University's athletic programs, MSU athletic director Zac Selmon announced Thursday. The entire five-member Golding family graduated from MSU, with one competing in track and field and another serving as a cheerleader. Their investment in the State Excellence Fund will enhance student-athlete resources and provide critical support. A portion of the gift will also be allocated to the newly announced Billy W. Howard Indoor Practice Facility.
Franklin College in Indiana has received a $1 million commitment from trustee Jim Napolitan and his wife Sandy, the school announced Monday. As reported by Inside Indiana Business, the funding will be used to support the $9 million renovation of the college’s Elwood Fitness Center, the renovated and restored lower level of which will be renamed the Drs. James and Sandra Napolitan Athletic Complex. Originally built in the early 1900s and expanded in the 1920s, the facility is currently used for limited practice activities. The renovation project aims to restore the exterior of the building and transform the interior into a space for fitness, recreational and athletic activities.
