Xavier University men's and women's basketball fans visiting Cintas Center this season will have a new way to support the Xavier athletic department through the "Round-Up for Excellence" initiative.
In partnership with Chartwells and Shift4, patrons making purchases at participating concessions stands will be prompted with the option to round their order up to the nearest dollar, "Would you like to round up your total to support Xavier student-athletes?" The extra cents directed to Xavier Athletics to support scholarships, facility enhancements and critical operating needs, according to Sunday's announcement at goxavier.com.
"Concessions are part of the game day experience — and now they're also part of supporting it," said Seth Breitenstein, associate athletics director for development. "The Round-Up for Excellence program lets fans make a meaningful contribution effortlessly, and small additions combined over the season can support our commitment to recruit, develop and support top-tier student-athletes."
The Round-Up program will be active at all home men's and women's basketball games. Concessions stands will operate from the time doors open, 60 minutes before women's basketball, and 90 minutes before men's basketball tip-off, until 10 minutes remain in the basketball game..
"The Athletics Excellence Fund is the backbone of Xavier Athletics, and is an integral piece to providing a championship environment for our student-athletes," the announcement reads. "This fund impacts the entire athletics department annually, and is used year-over-year during the athletics seasons for immediate student-athlete needs. This fund is a priority for Xavier Athletics because it allows our department the ability to budget and forecast for future projects and initiatives and gives us flexibility to use that money where it is needed most."
