Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa., has announced a $7.5 million gift from alum Ken Mehlman, a college trustee and board vice chair. It's the largest gift in support of athletics and wellness in school history, according to Thursday's announcement, and will be used to begin construction of the innovative Mehlman Strength, Conditioning, Wellness, and Performance Center.
The University of Texas at Arlington has received a $2 million commitment from former football student-athlete J. Ron Young — the largest single philanthropic pledge ever made to UTA Athletics. Young's gift will support the Athletics Excellence Fund, ensuring that student-athletes have the resources they need to succeed on the field and in the classroom for years to come, according to the Oct. 31 announcement at utamavs.com.
The University of Alabama Birmingham Department of Athletics has announced that the Nancy Collat Goedecke and the Collat family have made a commitment of $250,000 in support of the Bartow Arena renovation project. The $14.6 million Bartow Arena renovation project is intended to expand the entrance lobby, add club-level seating and a lounge, replace lower-bowl retractable seating, and upgrade concourse restrooms.
