The FIFA World Cup will be postponed until 2022 because of logistics related to hosting, according to an Associated Press report.
The AP reported that Japan withdrew from hosting the seven-team tournament planned for December because of coronavirus restrictions. South Africa also had to turn it down because the country needs to get more of its people vaccinated.
Sources familiar with the planning told the AP that FIFA is considering holding the World Cup in January or February. The AP said the source spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss it.
