The NFL announced this week that it has indefinitely suspended three players for betting on NFL games last season.

According to ESPN, Isaiah Rodgers and Rashod Berry of the Indianapolis Colts, as well as free agent Demetrius Taylor have all been suspended at least through the 2023 season.

In addition, Tennessee Titans offensive tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere was suspended for six games for betting on sports other than football at the workplace.

The Colts announced that both Rodgers and Berry have been waived as a result of their suspensions.

"The integrity of the game is of the utmost importance," Colts general manager Chris Ballard said in a statement. "As an organization we will continue to educate our players, coaches, and staff on the policies in place and the significant consequences that may occur with violations."

The NFL investigation did not find any evidence of game manipulation.

Earlier this year, four Detroit Lions and one player from the Washington Commanders were suspended by the NFL for gambling violations.

The NFL said last week that it plans to reinforce its gambling policy to players, and all rookies will be required to attend mandatory education sessions on the matter. The league will emphasize six key rules, as follows:

  1. Don't bet on the NFL.

  2. Don't gamble at your team facility, while traveling for a road game or staying at a team hotel.

  3. Don't have someone bet for you.

  4. Don't share team "inside information."

  5. Don't enter a sportsbook during the NFL playing season.

  6. Don't play daily fantasy football.
