Just weeks after Michigan announced a self-imposed three-game suspension for head football coach Jim Harbaugh, the NCAA this week delivered a one-game suspension of Wolverines offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore for recruiting infractions.
Harbaugh said Monday that an analyst will be temporarily promoted to fill Moore's spot on the staff in Saturday's season opener against East Carolina.
Earlier this week Harbaugh said his own three-game suspension for recruiting infractions during the COVID pause was hard to take.
“I’ve heard people comment it’s a slap on the wrist,” Harbaugh said. “It’s more like a baseball bat to the kneecaps.”
Neither Harbaugh or Moore will be on the sideline for the opening game. Both will be allowed to coach on non-game days, following NCAA rules.
Harbaugh will also be out for games against UNLV and Bowling Green.
