According to the Clarion Ledger, the school will now be known as Mississippi Christian College concurrent with some changes to the athletic department, as well as the dropping of the football program.
"After significant review and in preparation for the institutionβs 2026 bicentennial, the Mississippi College Board of Trustees approved an institutional name change," the school said in a statement.
The change will allow the college to retain its MC logo and branding.
The statement said the institutional name change is a strategic decision that reiterates leadershipβs commitment to fulfilling the private universityβs vision statement, "To be known as a university recognized for academic excellence and commitment to the cause of Christ."
At the Nov. 18 meeting, the Mississippi College Board of Trustees also approved:
- A preliminary plan for academic reorganization.
