Periodically, The NFHS Voice will be presented in the form of video. This week, NFHS CEO Karissa Niehoff shares that due to legislative mandates or undue external pressure, 10 state associations are now allowing at least one transfer from school to school with immediate eligibility. She said that administrators, teachers and coaches, and those in state association offices are the most knowledgeable and experienced regarding development of programs for education-based athletics. She asks for support for state associations to establish bylaws and regulations that work best for their member schools and student-athletes in those states.
Dr. Karissa L. Niehoff is in her seventh year as chief executive officer of the NFHS, the national leader and advocate for high school sports and performing arts programs based in Indianapolis. She is the first female to head the national leadership organization for high school athletics and performing arts activities and the sixth full-time chief executive of the NFHS. She previously was executive director of the Connecticut Association of Schools-Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference for seven years.
