A total of 13 football players from Texas State University and University of Louisiana have been suspended for one or more games following a post-game brawl that broke out on the field and spilled over into the tunnel at Our Lady of Lourdes Stadium on November 8.
According to The Daily Advertiser, the first fight started just after the clock expired when both teams were on the field to shake hands. Another fight erupted in the tunnel as the teams were attempting to leave the field.
The Sun Belt Conference released a statement on Monday, announcing which players would be suspended for their role in the altercation. Six student-athletes from Texas State were suspended and seven student-athletes from University of Louisiana were suspended — most for only one game.
“There is no place for this type of behavior in college football. This unfortunate postgame incident overshadowed what was a competitive regional rivalry game on the field,” said Sun Belt Conference commissioner Keith Gill. “While the spirit of competition is central to what we do in college athletics, postgame actions like these will not be tolerated in the Sun Belt Conference.”
University of Louisiana head coach Michael Desormeaux said, “We’re trying to sort through, trying to appeal some of them but there’s some of them that I just think it’s really hard. I mean, you get attacked and I don’t know how you’re supposed to respond. I don’t understand how this wasn’t cleared up before once it broke the first time; I don’t understand how we didn’t get people off the field.”
The following student-athletes from University of Louisiana have been suspended:
- Tyree Skipper (remainder of the 2025 season, including any potential bowl games)
- Courtline Flowers (1 game)
- Kody Jackson (1 game)
- Kaliep Edwards (1 game)
- Collin Jacob (1 game)
- Evan Stroman (1 game)
- De'Antonio Lesueur (1 game)
The following student-athletes from Texas State were suspended:
- Tymere Jackson, 2 games
- Khamari Terrett 1, game
- Justin DeLeon, 1 game
- Kyran Bourda, 1 game
- JP Deeter, 1 game
- Devarrick Woods, 1 game
