An interim high school athletic director in Arizona has resigned after it was alleged he sent inappropriate texts to a middle schooler.
According to AZFamily, the Scottsdale Unified School District accepted the resignation of Lucas Ackerson, the interim athletic director for Saguaro High School, on Tuesday.
A middle school student and her parents told school officials on that she received direct messages from Ackerson.
“The District is grateful that the student had the courage to come forward and inform the administration of the inappropriate behavior,” a district spokesperson said in a statement.
Ackerson was immediately placed on administrative leave for messaging a student outside of district platforms.
“Maintaining appropriate professional boundaries is essential to protecting students and staff alike and ensuring safe, accountable communication practices,” a spokesperson said.
The district is not pursuing an investigation, claiming there isn't sufficient evidence to prove a crime was committed.
