The NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Committee issued a public reprimand to Endicott men’s basketball coach Kevin Bettencourt.

Bettencourt was cited for misconduct incidents that occurred after the school’s Division III Men’s Basketball Championship third-round game March 13.

Following the game at Illinois Wesleyan, Bettencourt made gestures toward a game official after going through the handshake line.

The Division III Men’s Basketball Committee also cited Bettencourt for the way he addressed an on-site NCAA representative on the court immediately after the game and in an area away from the court.

The committee determined that there was misconduct per NCAA Bylaw 31.02.3. As defined in the bylaw, misconduct in an NCAA championship is “any act of dishonesty, unsportsmanlike conduct, unprofessional behavior or breach of law that discredits the event or intercollegiate athletics and occurs from the time the championship field is announced through the end of the championship (including travel en route to, from or in the locale of the competition or practice).”
