Florida A&M announced Wednesday that the NCAA has issued a postseason ban on four of its programs for the 2019 season due to reported Academic Progress Rate scores that fall below the association’s multiyear threshold of 930.
Athletic director John Eason told WCTV, "While we are disappointed that this year's teams will bear the brunt of this action, we are confident that the measures put in place to address the APR will put us on course to move forward in restoring the necessary standards of excellence in academics.”
According to the school, the seasons attributing to the low scores — 2013-2014, 2014-2015, 2015-16 and 2016-2017 — were reported prior to the onboarding of the programs’ current head coaches. The programs affected are the FAMU men’s basketball, men’s golf, and men’s indoor and outdoor track and field teams.
