A high school in Maine has decided to suspend all football activities amid an investigation into alleged hazing incidents within the program.
According to WMTW, the announcement from Lisbon School Department athletic director Chris Spaulding came shortly after Mountain Valley High School announced Lisbon High School had forfeited Friday night's football game in Rumford.
"Due to the ongoing investigation at Lisbon High School, the Lisbon School Department has made the determination to cancel all football activities until further notice," Spaulding said in a letter to families, students and staff.
The forfeit comes just one day after Lisbon police chief Ryan McGee informed WMTW that officers were investigating a hazing incident at Lisbon High School.
The father of a former Lisbon High School player said that his son was hazed.
"I watched this one particular coach do nothing but scream and berate my kid over and over and over again," the man said. "My son also told me over the years that in the locker room, there's never anybody around and pretty much anything goes."
McGee said no charges have been filed in connection with the Lisbon Police Department's investigation as of Friday morning.
