Former Louisiana State University defensive back Javien Toviano is suing the LSU Board of Supervisors over the university’s handling of his Title IX case and subsequent suspension.

According to WBRZ, Toviano was arrested in 2024 on video voyeurism charges. The charges were brought by Toviano's then-girlfriend, who claimed he had secretly filmed intimate moments between the couple.

While those charges were ultimately dismissed, a Title IX complaint with LSU was not, and Toviano was issued a one-year suspension from the football team by a panel of university-appointed leaders.

The panel found Toviano “responsible for ‘sexual exploitation’” in Oct. 2025. Toviano appealed the decision, but he was once again denied.

Now, Toviano has entered the transfer portal and filed a lawsuit against the LSU Board of Supervisors claiming that the university’s Title IX office “used an unconstitutional commingling of the functions of investigator, prosecutor, legal advisor and decision maker against him” and “Hand-picking a panel tasked with determining Toviano’s guilt, rather than picking a panel by random.”

According to LSU Reveille, Tovaino is seeking a temporary restraining order to stop LSU from upholding the suspension. The case has been moved to federal court at LSU’s request.

Toviano told WBRZ that his primary concern is the case impacting his football career.
