McKinney (Texas) Independent School District athletic trainer Lindsey Post was arrested and fired from her position a few weeks ago, and now she is facing a civil lawsuit by the parents of a McKinney ISD student whom Post allegedly sexually assaulted.
According to NBC DFW, Post is facing criminal charges for sexual assault of a child and an improper relationship between an educator and a student as well as the civil charges from the family.
Post served as the athletic trainer at McKinney North High School, and she supported Cockrill Middle School and Scott Johnson Middle School as needed.
The suit alleges that Post sent explicit text messages to the student, engaged in inappropriate contact on school grounds and took the student off-campus in her car where the alleged abuse occurred from Nov. 2025 to Jan. 2026.
“It’s terrible to think of it happening even once. The fact that it happened repeatedly is shocking,” the attorney representing the family, Paul Herz, said to WFAA.
Court records indicate that Post’s behavior was uncovered when the student’s parent became concerned about their behavior and checked the messages on their phone. There were multiple texts sent from Post that read “I miss you baby,” and “I love you baby,” along with other inappropriate messages.
McKinney ISD is also facing consequences for the incident as the lawsuit claims the district was “grossly negligent” and “reckless in hiring, supervising or employing someone who commits sexual misconduct against a student.”
In a statement, the district said, “The District was notified today of a lawsuit filed on behalf of the victim and the victim’s family. However, since there is now pending litigation, the District is unable to comment on matters that are the subject of the litigation. The District is committed to thoroughly investigating this matter and to transparency as this case develops, within the limits of what the law allows us to share and while maintaining confidentiality for any victim, as outlined by law."
Early on in the investigation and suit filing, Herz also called Post’s licensing into question. He raised concerns about an alleged expiration date on Post’s license that lists the fall of 2025.
"It begs the question, how was she here in the first place in McKinney ISD or any of the other schools she serviced as the ISD, as their statement notes," Herz said.
