Facility Friday: Baseball Facilities Galore, Auburn Football and More

The University of Miami announced plans to upgrade and renovate its baseball facilities. The $7 million fundraising campaign will go toward supporting a renovated player lounge and nutrition center, and a new scoreboard for the program. Renovations are part of phase II of plans at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field, which will begin after the construction of an indoor practice facility that will break ground this fall. ā€” HurricaneSports.com


Auburn University announced that the team of Goodwyn, Mills, and Cawood and HOK Architects would partner and consult on the development and design of the schoolā€™s planned Football Performance Center. The move was approved by the Auburnā€™s Board of Trustees. The next phase of the project will be for the board to approve the budget, funding and site plans. ā€” AuburnTigers.com

Marshall University held a groundbreaking for its baseball stadium this week. Plans call for a 3,500-seat stadium, complete with batting cages, bullpens, player lounges, a video room and a nutrition station. Work on the stadium, designed by architecture firm AECOM, is expected to begin in the spring. ā€” Marshall Parthenon

James Madison University has plans to install a new synthetic turf field system at Eagle Field at Veterans Memorial Park, the home of the schoolā€™s baseball program. The new field, featuring FieldTurfā€™s DoublePlay Natural product, will have a new look ā€” incorporating a large JMU logo in the outfield. The work is scheduled to be complete by December. ā€” JMUSports.com

Appalachian State recently installed a new synthetic turf surface at Beaver Field at Jim and Bettie Smith Stadium. The AstroTurf Diamond Series field upgrades the schoolā€™s baseball facility and features an App State logo in the outfield. ā€” Press Release
