Inclement weather and concerns surrounding prep time have postponed the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference’s football postseason, according to a news release.

Apart from the state championships, all remaining playoff games have all been rescheduled. Quarterfinals originally scheduled for Tuesday have been bumped to Wednesday, while semifinals originally slated for Sunday have been moved to Monday. Championship games are scheduled to take place on Saturday, Dec. 14.

“Given the number of sites and games for the football postseason and the importance of maintaining equal and appropriate recovery for all teams, in consultation with the schools and tournament director we feel it best to reschedule the entire quarterfinal round of games,” Gregg Simon, CIAC associate executive director said in the release.

The move comes on the heels of forecasts that called for as much as 8 inches of snow, according to the Hartford Courant. While actual snowfalls failed to reach expected levels, some areas of the state were hit with as much as 6 inches. Some schools were closed on Monday, while others had delayed openings.

Some areas of the state remain under a winter weather advisory, with forecasts calling for additional snowfall.
