Facility Friday: Spotlighting Small College Projects

Southern Arkansas University announced plans for an open-air multipurpose facility, with a 60-yard turf field and LED lighting. The $1.45 million facility would be utilized by multiple sports, and have line markings to reflect its multipurpose function. The project will be funded entirely through private support. Belhaven University celebrated the grand opening of its new track and field facility. The eight-lane complex features a synthetic all-weather running surface, and will help the program participate in 21 track and field events. The facility will host the ASC Championship beginning in late April. — Belhaven.edu  

Union College announced the completion of a new indoor training facility for its men’s and women’s crew teams. Located inside Alumni Gym, the project renovated an old racquetball and squash court to transform the space into a permanent home for the crew programs. The facility features a four-seat sweep/sculling tank, multiple ergometers, meeting space and coaches’ offices. — UnionAthletics.com

Mount St. Joseph University unveiled an $18 million, 86,000-square-foot indoor sports complex. The facility features a 200-meter, six-lane running track, a full tennis court, an indoor turf field, batting cages and a multipurpose space for fitness activities. — Local12.com
