The Student Recreation Center (SRC) expansion and renovation was designed with the end goal of educating, engaging and inspiring the campus community to live active lives, both now and into the future.

The building’s interior features materials that reflect the northwest. Repurposed wood — harvested and milled on campus — is featured in bold ceiling ribbons, reflecting the warmth of the facility and reinforcing the Oregon brand. The aesthetic is crafted by common, readily available and long-lasting materials. Materials and colors on the inside are visible from the outside thanks to a glass facade that puts internal activity on display and entices users.

Entryways were the focus of the exterior development. The facility enjoys two primary free-zone entries, one of which existed previously and was left largely untouched. A major pedestrian way connects to the new east entryway, where users are greeted by covered outdoor classroom and recreation spaces.

Primary programming space includes a 12-lane lap pool, a leisure pool with ramped entry, a three-court gymnasium, cardio and weight training areas, functional training areas, a group exercise studio, a cycling studio and a bouldering wall. The new facility also provides two-story locker rooms and expanded social spaces.
