The Gordon Family YMCA represents the largest community and recreation center in the area. Creating a central facility with a wide range of activities accessible to all was the foundation of design.

Eager to draw a more diverse membership, this facility includes a well-equipped arts center, with areas for performing and visual arts. The facility is organized to accommodate spontaneous choices for family recreation, and also respond to the specific needs of membership with a teen gathering space, a technology center and a youth gym. A natatorium with five distinct program areas, including a zero-depth entry beach and the area’s first indoor splash pad, accommodates swimmers of every level. Fitness program areas were designed with flexibility for current and future trends, with visibility of activity a focus.

Functionally, the facility maximizes active program areas by organizing them around a circulation spine. At the main intersections of this spine are fireside lounges and skylights. The layout enhances member interaction, navigation and orientation. The Gordon Family YMCA exceeded membership projections within its first six months of operation.
