The Student-Athlete Performance Center serves as the centerpiece of the Ragin’ Cajun athletic complex. The facility anchors the future development of an athletic plaza that connects the university’s major sporting venues. Placement of the facility provides a physical connection to the current indoor practice facility.

The location had to accommodate existing football practice fields and the footprint of the Cajun Field football stadium. In replacing existing facilities, the opportunity to infuse the unique branding of the Ragin’ Cajuns and the culture of the region was paramount in the mind of the designers.

The center features a new 12,000-square-foot cardio and strength facility, and a 150-seat divisible auditorium provides the centerpiece for the lower floor. Surrounding the main team locker room and equipment areas are the cardio and conditioning areas that connect directly to the indoor practice facility. Completing the lower floor is a hydrotherapy area with hot and cold plunge pools, a therapy pool and visitors’ locker rooms.

The upper level features a cardio mezzanine that overlooks the strength facility and meeting rooms, as well as coaches’ offices that overlook the practice fields.
