Designed in the style of the classic “cathedrals” of basketball, yet boasting impressive technological innovations, Wofford College’s Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium seeks to preserve and capture the history and tradition of the game while addressing the present and future state of the sport.

Named for Wofford alum and trustee emeritus Jerry Richardson, the facility is

more than just an arena — it is a key part of the school’s master plan for the next several decades.

Throughout the facility, significant attention was paid to the fan experience. Four primary video boards, located in the corners of the main arena, create optimal sightlines. Two additional ribbon boards, three vomitory boards, a scorers’ table video board, and a media table video board complete the immersive digital experience. With the corner suites and main concourses all open to the court, the fan never leaves the action.

The facility also engages the community at large by offering areas throughout the concourse for use by community members. Outside the athletic schedule, local high schools, amateur athletics associations, summer sports camps and others can run multiple events simultaneously.

Sitting at the important intersection of athletics, academics, and community and student life, the facility contributes to the school’s overall collegiate experience by promoting high-level athletic performance in a beautiful setting, balanced against the intensive coursework typical of this liberal arts institute.
