Project Description

Mosaic Stadium is an open-air stadium with capacity to accommodate up to 40,000 people for Grey Cup matches. With state-of-the-art features, Mosaic hopes to attract world-class sports, concerts and events, in addition to serving as home to the CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Within the context of the city of Regina’s urban revitalization plan, Mosaic Stadium is both an integral component and a foundational element. Surrounding entry plazas and corresponding view corridors were carefully conceived to maximize connections to both the surrounding Evraz Place development and the existing Confederation Park, as well as the planned linear park that physically links the stadium to the city’s greater master plan.

The stadium design itself is heavily influenced by its climatic response, as well as its connection to the public realm and the identity of the region. The time-honored traditions and dynamic nature of the Regina community and its Roughriders informed a modern palette of simple forms and materials that create a fitting architectural expression for the new stadium.

The aerodynamic shape of the entire building is a formal and functional response to the climate and unique characteristics of the province. When inside, the venue boasts unobstructed views from the spacious main concourse into the bowl, connecting the community to the event, while offering the fans ample amenities. Its form is at once sheltering and inviting, symbolically opening to the community and Rider Nation as an icon for the city and the province
