Woodforest Bank Stadium and Conroe ISD Natatorium

Shenandoah, Texas
Construction Cost: $38.7 million
Area / Square Feet: 10,000
Occupancy Date: August 2008

Featuring a synthetic turf field sized for both football and soccer, Woodforest Bank Stadium has a capacity of 10,000 spectators — 5,250 home fans and 4,750 away fans. Concessions stands and restroom facilities are located on each side.

Consisting of a 65-meter long-course competitive pool for swimming and diving, the natatorium has a capacity of 1,000 spectators. The two facilities share dressing spaces, as well as a 3,300-space parking lot.

Inside the natatorium, bowed wood glulam beams provide a visually pleasing and warm aesthetic element, while also serving as a non-corrosive structural component. The interior color scheme is neutral in order to incorporate graphics of all 10 Conroe ISD high schools that compete in this district facility.

The complex is located near a retail development that has an established exterior color scheme and level of intricate brick detail, which helped dictate how similar colors, textures and brick design would be incorporated into the stadium and natatorium. The facility is visible from an adjacent major interstate, increasing the importance of colors, graphics and architecture in complementing existing surroundings.
