The McCreary Football Complex at Wake Forest University exemplifies the university’s dedication to athletic excellence and player development. This state-of-the-art facility is the heart of the Demon Deacons football program. Visitors are welcomed by a spacious lobby adorned with memorabilia celebrating Wake Forest football’s rich history, inspiring both players and fans. The complex is a comprehensive support system for player development, featuring a cutting-edge strength and conditioning center with top-of-the-line fitness equipment and expert trainers. Indoor and outdoor practice fields with the latest turf technology allow for year-round training. As part of the project, Counsilman-Hunsaker was tasked with designing two spas and related equipment within a constrained space, ultimately placing the equipment in separate rooms on different floors. Despite this, the team successfully implemented an efficient system for seamless operation. Aquatics features include a 78-square-foot hot spa with ADA transfer rails and hydrotherapy jets, as well as a 239-square-foot cold spa with two stair entries and underwater benches. These amenities enhance the facility’s comprehensive support for athletes, ensuring optimal performance and recovery.
