Siouxnami Waterpark

Sioux Center, Iowa
Construction Cost: $6.6 million
Area / Square Feet: 72,000 (12,512 water surface area)

With a growing community interest in aquatic activities, the City of Sioux Center decided to enhance and expand the existing outdoor aquatic facility into a waterpark that would serve a more diverse population. Siouxnami Waterpark now offers a variety of features, including its signature zipline and lazy river with waves.

It was important to the community to have spaces conducive to young adults gathering and socializing. Therefore, a “teen corner” was created to offer a comfortable and usable hangout.

Siouxnami Waterpark is part of the City’s All Seasons Center. The existing center brought unique design opportunities and considerations, such as patrons of the waterpark flowing in and out of the center to access restrooms, as well as the deliveries of chemicals and supplies. It was a priority that the aesthetic of the waterpark be inviting, so enhanced landscaping and expansive seating areas were developed to help navigate patron flow and create pockets of separated spaces.
