SENTIMENTAL VALUE
The existing outdoor pool was last remodeled in the 1970s, and included a building constructed in 1932. This pool building had sentimental value to the community, but its condition and location did not allow for reuse. The new pool facility's design features an entry rotunda, including salvaged clay roof tiles as a tie to the previous structure.

MAXIMIZING SPACE
The biggest project challenge was the site's size — the community had a long wish list and only so much land. The design team was asked to include as many items as possible, while also providing a very large amount of water. The resulting site plan is very efficient, and maximizes use of the entire site. The new aquatic facility includes an updated and accessible leisure pool and an improved space for competitive swimming. The complex also has two slides and a tot pool. Modernized support spaces for concessions, restroom and shower facilities, maintainable filtration and sanitization systems, and a large shade structure were also included.
