The Town of Parker recognized the need to update and renovate its facility to be more competitive and appealing than more recently constructed neighborhood pools. The town also wanted to update its pool’s mechanical system with newer, more efficient technology to be more efficient.

Designers sought to make the project about more than just a pool, with kid zones, game zones, adult zones and various social zones focused on interaction within the context of a summer gathering place. The team also implemented gender-neutral vanities, gender-specific restrooms and family changing rooms, resulting in efficient use of space and plumbing fixtures. Outdoor changing stalls and freestanding deck-mounted showers encourage patrons to use showers more.

With a very tight budget and a big wish list, the design team established budgets for each element, scheduled them and found the right balance, providing staff and patrons with a community asset that delivered more than originally envisioned and planned.
