The original Harrer Pool was constructed in 1962 and renovated in 1995. More than 55 years after construction, it was determined that the pool was deteriorating and had exceeded its expected life.
The park district investigated various options to ensure the residents of Morton Grove continued to have aquatic opportunities at Harrer Park. With tremendous support from the community, a bond referendum passed, and the future of Harrer Pool was confirmed.
The newly opened 800-bather pool features a six-lane, 50-meter pool, a deep-water pool with diving boards and a drop slide, an activity pool with spray features, a Spray Play area with shade, and two water slides. The project has been embraced by the community and hugely successful.
