Athens City Pool

SUPPORT SPACE
Replacing a dated community pool and support building, the new pool for the City of Athens includes separate leisure and lap/dive pools, two slides, a tot pool and a splash pad. A new entry building provides support spaces for administration, restrooms, lockers, storage and a rentable community room that can be used to extend the pool season. The project also includes increased parking and plenty of green space and shade, with as many trees within the existing park site preserved as possible.

ESSENCE OF ATHENS
The facility was designed to include the "essence of Athens" throughout, with bike racks, the splash pad, the Athens Block entry pavers and the architectural style of the building capturing this desired essence. The curving entrance canopy reflects the movement of the adjacent Hocking River and is designed to create a central axis on the site.
