13th Street Sports Park Splash Pad

Andover, Kansas
Construction Cost: NA
Area / Square Feet: 4,178
Occupancy Date: July 2024

The City of Andover transformed its previous ballfields into a regionally attractive sports complex. As an added amenity, the city set out to have a splash pad available at the new 13th Street Sports Park. One reason for offering a splash pad is for siblings of sports participants to have a place to cool off from the Kansas summer heat during games and tournaments. In the second of this project’s two phases, Professional Engineering Consultants’ landscape and layout design merges wet and dry play areas, while Waters Edge Aquatic Design’s contribution in the mechanical, filtration and feature systems of the aquatics portion makes the splash pad a functioning, safe place to escape the heat. The splash pad offers a vibrant geometric design, playful features such as a dump bucket, and painted concrete surfaces softened by synthetic turf berms for proportioned play zones. Real trees are planted within the splash pad to provide natural shade as they grow, creating a refreshing oasis in the heart of this developing sports park.
