Arvada Aquatics Center

Arvada, Colo.
Construction Cost: $41 million
Area / Square Feet: 50,000
Occupancy Date: November 2024

Replacing the aging George J. Meyers Swim Center, the new Arvada Aquatic Center continues a 40-year community legacy with a modern, efficient design that supports recreation, training and competition while establishing a new benchmark for community-centered aquatics design in Colorado. The 50,000-square-foot facility features a 50-meter-by-25-yard Olympic-size pool with two movable bulkheads, 10 50-meter lanes, 22 cross-course lanes, and a world-class diving well with 1-, 3- and 5-meter platforms. Spectator seating for 850 and advanced timing systems make it ideal for local and state-level meets. A separate 2,525-square-foot training pool provides a warmer environment for lessons, therapy and recreational programming, with accessible ramp entry for inclusive use. Operated by the Apex Park and Recreation District in partnership with Jeffco Public Schools and the City of Arvada, the facility supports community programming and local teams, including multiple high school teams, the North Jeffco Swim Team and the Mile High Dive Club. The AAC achieved LEED Silver certification by featuring sustainable material sourcing, regenerative media filtration that reduces indoor water use by approximately 40%, high-efficiency HVAC and lighting systems that reduce operating costs by 20%, and native landscaping that cuts outdoor water use by 77%. Together, these features deliver a state-of-the-art aquatics environment that honors the Meyers Pool legacy while advancing community wellness and sustainability.
