The Franklin Wellness Center, a 60,000-square-foot facility on the Franklin Foundation Hospital campus, integrates physical and behavioral health services under one roof. Designed to serve approximately 20,000 patients annually, the center combines medical care with accessible fitness and rehabilitation amenities, emphasizing holistic community wellness. The aquatics area spans 9,550 square feet and includes a 1,840-square-foot lap pool with four lanes and stair entry, alongside a 715-square-foot therapy pool. These pools support rehabilitation, aquatic fitness, and wellness programming for patients and the public. Additional amenities include an indoor walking track, exercise studios for cycling and mind-body wellness, and a group fitness room, creating a comprehensive environment for health and activity. The project faced challenges due to its remote location, nearly two hours outside New Orleans, and a pandemic-affected construction timeline, requiring adaptive planning for equipment, chemicals and design specifications. The Franklin Wellness Center exemplifies a forward-thinking approach to integrated healthcare, combining medical services, fitness and education to promote preventative health and long-term community wellbeing.
