A feasibility study assessing the options for renovating and expanding a 50-year-old swimming pool in Elk City’s Ackley Park ultimately recommended a complete replacement, as it was the best way to provide a modern, state-of-the-art facility. The aquatic center is larger than the old pool and has various features that appeal to people of all ages.
The center features three pools: a leisure pool, a plunge pool and a tot pool. The leisure pool features family amenities, with spaces for children to play and caretakers to relax. The plunge pool includes dive platforms, a plunge slide and a climbing wall — a pool for water lovers to enjoy. The tot pool is perfect for younger swimmers to get comfortable in the water. All pools are also more energy-efficient than the old ones, saving the city money in the long run.
