Designed as a holistic community and wellness center, the new 86,000-square-foot multigenerational recreation and fitness facility is organized around a central lobby that welcomes visitors and doubles as a community gathering space.
Upon entering, patrons visually connect to all primary spaces: the pool, childcare and community rooms, a group fitness area, and a gymnasium and a track. A large social stair provides additional space for gathering and provides a direct visual connection and circulation path to the second-level fitness floor, running track and group fitness rooms.
The fully accessible competition pool, hot tub and recreational pool also have direct views to the exterior and are visible from the lobby and second-level fitness floor. With shallow water and a ramp, the recreational pool creates an accessible 3-foot-to-4-foot-3-inch-deep area for exercise and swim classes. An adjacent splash pad includes deck-level and interactive sprayers for the YMCA’s youngest patrons. The 6-lane, 25-yard lap pool ranges from 3 feet 6 inches to 7 feet 6 inches, allowing for swim team practice and starting platform certification, as well as for lifeguard certification. Other features include a warm-water spa and equipment focused on efficiency.
