Area / Square Feet: 5,485

The Ottawa YMCA opened a state-of-the-art facility in 2024, blending the organization’s historic presence with modern design and amenities. The 4,235-square-foot lap pool holds 169,000 gallons and features eight 25-yard lanes, starting blocks, a stair entry, a lift, grab rails, and depths ranging from 4 feet to 9 feet, 3 inches. This pool, accommodating both competitive swimming and lap exercise, is complemented by a 1,250-square-foot activity pool with 27,735 gallons, stair entry, water basketball and interactive spray features, providing recreation and therapy opportunities for members of all ages. The facility’s public areas include expansive glass walls overlooking the aquatics center, a “living room” with a double-faced fireplace, and a suspended walk/jog track above the gymnasium. The design honors Ottawa’s architectural heritage through precast concrete panels, metal accents and a tribute to the historic Ottawa Rail Bridge. Partnerships with OSF HealthCare Saint Elizabeth Medical Center allow integration of physical therapy and wellness programming. With advanced aquatics features, flexible recreational spaces and inclusive programming, the Ottawa YMCA continues to serve as a vibrant hub for health, wellness and community engagement in the region.
