TROPICAL DESIGN

The Westside Tennis Club wanted to give members and guests a break from the city by offering a resort feel and the tropical beauty of Maui, Hawaii. The landscaping and irrigation add to the resort aesthetic. The ground level is surrounded on both sides by custom faux rockwork, palm trees, tropical plants and exotic flowers, while including bright colors, floral scents, music and the sound of waterfalls splashing into the river. The base of the three-slide mountain feature has a series of cascading pools, as well as a stone waterfall that cascades into a middle pool and transitions to the lower pool. There are also exotic animals, including birds and monkeys, throughout the facility.

FIRST IN THE U.S.

One of many unique features at the facility is the High Fly slide, the first of its kind in the United States. The slide mimics how a ski jumper feels at the moment of launch. The open and drop slide flumes, start tower and support structure was designed by Splashtacular Inc., while the High Fly slide flume and landing area structure is by Klarer Freizeitanlagen.

DIVERSE OFFERINGS

The 1,000-plus-foot lazy river provides a leisurely float that contrasts with a 200-foot action river that offers swift water rapids. Several lagoon pools are tucked along the length of the river to provide sun ledges, relaxation areas and entry/exit points. An adult-only area separated by rock arches includes a waterfall grotto, tables, and a soon to-be-built bar and grill. During the holiday season, the river is transformed into a “Christmas Around the World” experience in which guests drink hot chocolate while floating in family-size rafts through a winter wonderland illuminated by thousands of lights and displays throughout the water park.
