At the center of the Paramount High School Athletic Complex is a 6,000-seat stadium with a synthetic field striped for both football and soccer. The nine-lane urethane all-weather track accommodates invitationals and includes two synthetic D-zones featuring multicolored shot put rings, two pole-vault pads, a high-jump area and two runways for long jump.
The 29,000-square-foot field house includes classrooms, weight training areas, band and meeting rooms, locker rooms and coaches’ offices. Polished concrete flooring and exposed block walls embrace the building’s sustainability by minimizing the use of excessive materials.
The building’s exterior materials selection was inspired by the existing campus, and brick veneer accents applied over CMU on the south and north elevations tie the new structure to other campus buildings.
The field house was envisioned as the most visible portion of the campus to the community, and the “billboard” aspect of the project elevates this typically utilitarian program into something much more. It has the unique opportunity to align the campus with the overall “Paramount Experience” beautification efforts going on throughout the city, and it aims to project a revitalized image of the campus to the community.
