The Fertitta Center is the newly renovated campus home of University of Houston Cougars basketball and volleyball. The project to reimagine the former Hofheinz Pavilion began in March 2017 and opened 30 days ahead of schedule with a men’s basketball win over the University of Oregon on Dec. 1, 2018.

Serving the University of Houston’s main campus as a venue for graduations, concerts, live shows and other programming opportunities, the Fertitta Center has infused an extraordinary design into an iconic structure. The renovation was made possible through a generous $20 million donation from University of Houston System Board of Regents chairman Tilman J. Fertitta and his family in August 2016.

The facility features a premium club area and a courtside club. The reconfigured bowl moved midcourt seating locations closer to game action with floor-level student seating opposite the team benches. Renovations included a new audio system, sports lighting and video boards, as well as new concessions stands and expanded restrooms. The facility’s exterior also was refreshed with materials consistent with finishes on the adjacent Guy V. Lewis Development Facility.
